After taking data from hundreds of iOS and Android app developed by Geeks Global Solutions, researchers reached the conclusion that on an average it takes three weeks for back end and four weeks for frontend development

Resource cost is the basic factor associated with the cost of app development, other factors are time and the complexity of the application.

Researchers at Geeks Global Solutions generated a report on the cost of application development in Ghana and US. The report states that average app takes around seven weeks to build in which three weeks spent on the back end and four weeks on the front end. Working eight hours a day an average project takes 280 hours to complete. Based on the hourly rate of $15 in Ghana and $150 in US, the app development costs around $4200 and $42,000 in Ghana and US respectively. The study states that businesses based in other markets, like Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, could also enjoy significant cost benefits by developing in Ghana.

 

The key factors behind the lowest cost application development 

• Emerging developer community of India Ghana’s developer community is set to reach 4 million by 2018, making it the largest in the world. According to Google, users in Ghana are becoming increasingly interested in mobile app development. Since 2014, the number of online search inquiries for mobile app development courses by users in the country grew 200% to surpass the US, which has the largest app developer community globally.

• Rapidly growing and challenging ecosystem for app developers to compete in a crowded market. 

 

• Continuously changing consumer trends and preferences. Ghana’s smartphone growth In February 2016, Ghana witnessed the explosive growth in smartphone users, surpassed the US as the second-largest smartphone market with 220 million smartphone users; there’s an estimated 191 million in the US.
